Lecturer in Disasters and Global Health - HCRI
Dr Nimesh Dhungana is a Lecturer based at the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI), University of Manchester. Nimesh’s research concerns the interplay between disasters, (human) development and democratic politics in the South Asian context, focusing on Nepal. Nimesh is also interested in the methodological, political, and ethical dimensions of 'doing research' in difficult settings such as conflicts and disasters. To that end, he is currently serving as a Co-Investigator in a British Academy-funded collaborative and comparative research project, which examines the politics of research ethics and knowledge production in Nepal, Colombia and the Balkans. His PhD research (from LSE) involved ethnographic research on the politics of citizen participation and accountability in the wake of the 2015 Nepal earthquakes. Nimesh has also worked in the development and NGO sector in his home country, Nepal, which continues to shape his research and practical engagements.
