To support the humanitarian response in Sudan, Insecurity Insight is conducting ongoing social media monitoring to understand perceptions and risks associated with misinformation and disinformation targeting the aid sector and Sudanese health workers.

This update gives details on incidents of violence affecting healthcare between 27 April - 6 May. At least 65 attacks on Sudan's health care system have been documented since January.

This update gives details on incidents of violence affecting healthcare between 15-26 April. At least 39 attacks on Sudan's health care system have been documented.
Sudan – April 2023 Update
Since fighting started between Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF), 174 civilians have been killed
and hundreds others injured. At least 13 hospitals in Khartoum have stopped functioning.

Myanmar – Jan 2023 Update
Between April and September 2022, 111 incidents affecting health
care were reported, highlighting the extent to which the Myanmar health system remains under attack despite a small overall decrease of reported incidents.
Publication: Underestimating attacks
The authors compare two separate datasets compiled using publicly-available data revealing minimal overlap. The article aims to explain the reasons for the lack of overlap, to better understand the gaps and their implications.
